ENSEMBLE BIO
Mythical Newsroom devotes itself to character-based longform improvisation that seamlessly meshes the fantastical with the mundane with commitment and conviction. The ensemble was formed when they were all players with Washington Improv Theater, during “Improvapalooza” an 8-hour improv fest. They have now been together for over a year, performing in various venues in Washington, DC. They have also taken the show on the road, up and down the Eastern Seaboard performing at Boston Improv Festival, The PIT (New York), The Creek (New York), The Red Room (New York) and North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival (New Mexico).
THE CAST
Karin Hammerberg hails from THE Chicago-land-area where she first fell in love with improv through the help of Second City. In college, she was a four-year member of George Washington University’s sketch and improv group, receSs. She now performs with Washington Improv Theater’s troupes Caveat and onesixityone. She is absolutely in love with Mythical Newsroom and sends them reaffirming emails daily. She can’t help it love, makes you want to slack at work!

Jenny Huftalen has been a part of the Washington Improv Theater since 2007. She is a graduate of their training program and now puts those skills to good work as a teacher. Jenny performs with various local troupes in DC including WIT ensemble Caveat.

Aparna Nancherla performs with the WIT ensembles JINX and Jackie. She’s also an accomplished stand up comedian, and was a national finalist in NBC’s Stand-Up for Diversity in 2007 and a regional finalist for Last Comic Standing VI. She has performed all across the United States at clubs, colleges, and various comedy festivals for both stand up and improv.

Recently relocated to NYC, Honora Talbott is an alumni of the WIT ensemble JINX. She received a B.A. in Theater from Amherst College, where she first started performing improv. Now an actor in NYC, she continues her improv training at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater, where she’s studied with Gavin Speiller, Kevin Hines, and Doug Moe. In 2008, her group JINX trained as an apprentice team at CIF with coach Jeff Griggs.
